Open-plan living – a dream in space and steel

Conversion of a farmhouse in Oppikon

Architecturally remodelled barns offer amazing potential for transformation, as demonstrated by the conversion we did on a farmhouse in Oppikon.

This former agricultural building now houses a spaciously designed interplay of kitchen and living space. To provide structure, a gallery was incorporated into the kitchen area, making the voluminous space less daunting and more welcoming.

Striking gold

Steel kitchens are durable, hygienic and flame-retardant. The cabinets have a non-porous powder coating and a galvanised finish, making them resistant to dirt and rust.

Living on multiple levels

There are some architectural gems which allow a Forster kitchen to really show off its effectiveness and functionality, and this building in Thalwil with a lake view is one of them. It was designed by Christian Kerez, a well-known architect who based the three apartments on a concept of simplicity that is expressed down to the smallest details in the use of exposed concrete, large areas of glazing and steps between the different spaces. A clean-cut design like this enables a Forster metal kitchen to come into its own in a very harmonious way.
